●LESSON 2 CHILDREN: MIRROR OF THE WORLD(本文シート)
PART 1
They are children
at St. Oliver Plunkett Elementary School in Australia. Sunglasses have become part of their
"school uniform."
The ozone layer has become thinner
because of CFCs, and the ultraviolet (UV) rays have become very strong in
Australia. UV rays are bad for your
eyes, and also for your skin. It is
a big problem for the people in Australia.
They have to protect themselves from the strong sunlight. Many of them wear sunglasses like the
children in the picture.
Part 2
This is a hospital in Bangkok,
Thailand. This hospital has been
teaching basic nursing skills to children. The doctors in this hospital hope that the children
will be able to look after their grandparents at home. This training course is called the
"Doctor Kids Program."
There are not enough hospitals in
Thailand and other developing countries.
Also, poor people do not see a doctor so often. "Doctor kids" cannot work like
real doctors. But children can do
many things. Sometimes they are
more helpful for older people.
Part 3
This is a street corner of a city in
Pakistan. These children are
learning to read at a "street school." The man is a UNICEF worker.
The children are living on the
street. They are called street
children. They have never been to a
regular school.
Many other children around the world are
in the same situation. UNICEF and
other organizations have been giving these children a chance to learn.

PART 1
PART 2
PART 3
